One of a kind vintage Mexican folk art altar by Antonio Villafane of Oaxaca, Mexico.  Villafane is a master of detail without losing the crude, folkieness found in most great folk art.  This particular folk piece was created by a much younger Villafane than one would find today in Oaxaca city.  In fact this piece was created in 1984, making it a real classic.   Because of its vintage this altar is one of a kind. Perhaps more significantly it marks an end of an era in Villafane’s career.   We still admire all of Antonio’s recent work.  He is an amazing, classic folk artist of Oaxaca to this day.
