David is one of Santa Fe’s best folk artists, now and forever.  He worked under the great Felipe Artchuleta for many years before he branched out on his own.  Unlike Felipe’s pieces, David’s animals are easier to live with. His animals appear less ferocious and rigid then those of Archuleta.  Even when he creates his famous attack pigs with teeth and tongue sticking out,  his animals still show a level of humor and lovability.  With the burro we have here your only response could be love and endearment for this wonderful beast.  The burro is all hand carved and painted and gives the presence of a classic New Mexico scene.  David has created highly collectable folk art over his entire career.  With his pieces finding themselves in serious collections and museums.
